Kilimanjaro Trek & Retreat

Experience the mountain. Rediscover yourself.

An extraordinary mountain. A journey beyond the everyday. An experience that stays with you long after you return home.

What happens when you step away from the demands of everyday life and set out to climb the highest mountain in Africa?

You leave behind the familiar rhythm of meetings, deadlines, responsibilities and constant notifications. In their place, you find crisp mountain air, mist drifting through ancient rainforests, vast open landscapes and the simple rhythm of putting one foot in front of the other.

Welcome to Kilimanjaro, where an incredible physical adventure becomes an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, challenge your limitations and rediscover the joy of being fully present.

This is more than a trek. It is an invitation to experience the world, and perhaps yourself, differently.

Experience the mountain. Rediscover yourself.

Imagine beginning your morning surrounded by the sounds of an awakening rainforest. Sunlight filters through towering trees as your boots find their rhythm on the trail. You hear birds calling overhead, catch glimpses of black-and-white colobus monkeys moving through the branches, and breathe in the cool, earthy scent of the forest.

As the days unfold, the landscape transforms. The dense greenery gives way to open moorlands, unusual giant plants and dramatic views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Clouds roll across the mountains. The wind brushes your face. The horizon seems to stretch endlessly before you.

At the end of a demanding day, your mountain hut becomes a welcome refuge. You wash away the day’s dust, warm your hands around a cup of tea or coffee, and settle in for a nourishing meal. Stories and laughter flow around the table. Strangers begin to feel like companions, united by the same trail and the same extraordinary goal.

And then there are the quieter moments.

Sitting outside your hut as the sky changes colour. Looking up at a canopy of stars far from city lights. Having a conversation that takes an unexpected turn, from work and ambition to the things that genuinely matter. Or simply sitting in silence, with nothing to do but breathe, observe and be present.

Away from your everyday routines, you have the space to slow down, reflect and see things from a fresh perspective.

For entrepreneurs, business leaders, professionals and anyone seeking a new direction, the mountain offers a powerful setting to explore resilience, decision-making, adaptability and self-leadership. The trail cannot remove every challenge waiting for you back home, but it can offer a different perspective on how you meet them.

And when the going gets tough, you discover the value of pacing yourself, listening to your body, accepting support and focusing on the next step rather than the entire climb ahead.

Sometimes, clarity comes not from doing more, but from stepping away long enough to see what matters.

The Marangu Route: A classic path to Africa’s highest point

Known as the Coca-Cola Route, the Marangu Route is one of Kilimanjaro’s oldest and most established trekking routes. It offers a classic mountain experience, taking you through beautiful rainforest, open moorland and the stark alpine desert towards Uhuru Peak, at an extraordinary 5,895 metres above sea level.

One of its distinctive features is accommodation in mountain huts rather than tents. After a day on the trail, you can look forward to a roof over your head, a place to rest and the camaraderie of fellow climbers.

Our six-day mountain itinerary also includes an acclimatization hike from Horombo Hut towards Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Ridge. This additional time at altitude gives your body an opportunity to adjust before the summit attempt. While acclimatization improves your preparation, reaching the summit can never be guaranteed, and safety always comes first.

From the forest floor to the vast, otherworldly landscape of the Saddle, every stage brings a new challenge and a new reward.

Then comes summit night.

You set off in darkness, headlamps illuminating the trail ahead. The air is cold, your breathing becomes deliberate, and each step demands focus. Slowly, steadily, you climb towards Gilman’s Point as the darkness begins to lift.

And then, the horizon glows.

The first light of dawn spills across Mawenzi Peak and the vast African landscape. You continue along the crater rim towards Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.

Standing at the summit is a moment that words can barely capture. There is the exhaustion, the exhilaration, the relief, the pride and the knowledge of what it took to arrive there.

You came to climb a mountain. You leave knowing something more about yourself.

Your 8-day Kilimanjaro experience

Day 1 - Arrival in Tanzania

Day 1 - Arrival in Tanzania

Nairobi, Kenya/ JRO, Tanzania to Arusha, Tanzania

Your adventure begins with your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi/ JRO airport Tanzaniaa, followed by a transfer to your hotel in Arusha, Tanzania.

Settle in, meet your team and begin preparing for the days ahead. During the pre-climb briefing, your guides will walk you through the trekking schedule, equipment requirements, mountain safety and the signs of altitude sickness to watch for. This is also the time to arrange any necessary gear rentals.

As you enjoy your first evening in Tanzania, the mountain adventure ahead starts to feel real.

  • Accommodation: River Lodge
  • Meals: Dinner

Day 2 - Into the rainforest

Marangu Gate (1,879 m) to Mandara Hut (2,720 m)

Distance: 8 km · Hiking time: 4–5 hours · Elevation gain: 841 m

After breakfast, travel to Marangu Gate, complete the registration formalities and begin your ascent into Kilimanjaro National Park.

The trail leads you into a lush montane rainforest, where towering trees, damp earth, filtered sunlight and birdsong create a world far removed from the bustle of everyday life. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and colourful birds as you make your way through the forest.

Pause for a picnic lunch along the trail before continuing to Mandara Hut. After your first day’s climb, the arrival ritual is simple and satisfying: hot water to freshen up, a cup of tea or coffee, and popcorn to enjoy with your fellow trekkers.

If energy and conditions permit, take an optional walk to Maundi Crater for your first views of the surrounding landscape.

  • Accommodation: Mandara Hut
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking water
  • Habitat: Montane rainforest
Day 2 - Into the rainforest

Day 3 - The landscape opens up

Day 3 - The landscape opens up

Mandara Hut (2,720 m) to Horombo Hut (3,720 m)

Distance: 12 km · Hiking time: 6–8 hours · Elevation gain: 1,000 m

Leave the rainforest behind as the trail climbs into open moorland. The trees become fewer, the views expand, and Kilimanjaro begins to reveal a more dramatic side of itself.

Strange, giant plants punctuate the landscape, while the rugged silhouettes of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks dominate the horizon. The air grows thinner, reminding you to slow your pace, breathe steadily and listen to your body.

This is a day that rewards patience. Take in the changing scenery, appreciate the progress you are making and resist the temptation to rush.

By the time you reach Horombo Hut, you will have covered a rewarding stretch of mountain terrain. Settle in, enjoy a warm meal and share the day’s experiences with your fellow trekkers as the evening chill sets in.

  • Accommodation: Horombo Hut
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking water
  • Habitat: Moorland

Day 4 - Climb high, sleep low

Acclimatization hike to Zebra Rocks (4,020 m), returning to Horombo Hut (3,720 m)

Distance: approximately 5 km · Hiking time: 2–3 hours · Elevation gain: approximately 300 m

Today is about preparation, not distance.

After breakfast, head towards Zebra Rocks or the Mawenzi Ridge area on an acclimatisation hike. The distinctive dark and light patterns of Zebra Rocks make for a memorable sight, while the elevated viewpoints offer striking perspectives of Kilimanjaro’s surrounding peaks.

The idea is to climb higher during the day and return to a lower altitude to sleep. This approach gives your body additional time to adapt to the conditions before the summit attempt.

Take your time, notice how you feel and enjoy the opportunity to experience the mountain without the pressure of covering a long distance.

Return to Horombo Hut for lunch, rest and dinner. The afternoon offers a valuable pause in the itinerary, a chance to recharge, reflect and appreciate the journey so far.

  • Accommodation: Horombo Hut
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking water
  • Habitat: Moorland
Day 4 - Climb high, sleep low

Day 5 - Across the alpine desert

Day 5 - Across the alpine desert

Horombo Hut (3,720 m) to Kibo Hut (4,720 m)

Distance: 10 km · Hiking time: 6–8 hours · Elevation gain: 1,000 m

The mountain changes character once again. The greenery fades, the terrain becomes rocky and barren, and the vast alpine desert opens around you.

Today’s route crosses the Saddle, the stark high-altitude landscape between Mawenzi and Kibo. With little shelter from the elements, the terrain feels immense and almost otherworldly. Every step brings you closer to the base of your final ascent.

Arrive at Kibo Hut, your staging point for summit night. Eat an early dinner, organise your equipment and prepare for a very early start. There is little time to waste: rest, hydrate according to your guide’s advice and conserve your energy.

As night falls, the temperature drops and the mountain becomes quiet. The summit may still feel far away, but tomorrow you will begin the final climb.

  • Accommodation: Kibo Hut
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking water
  • Habitat: Alpine desert

Day 6 - Summit day: Standing on the roof of Africa

Kibo Hut (4,720 m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), descending to Horombo Hut (3,720 m)

Ascent to Uhuru Peak: approximately 6 km · Descent to Horombo Hut: approximately 16 km

This is the day you have been working towards.

The summit attempt typically begins around midnight. Wrapped in warm layers, with your headlamp lighting the trail, you begin a slow, steady climb across steep volcanic scree. The cold bites at your face, the air is thin, and the darkness narrows your focus to the next step.

This is the most physically and mentally demanding part of the trek. Your guides will monitor the group and help you assess how you are coping with the altitude. There may be moments when progress feels painfully slow, but patience and careful pacing are essential.

Gradually, you approach Gilman’s Point at 5,685 metres. As dawn approaches, the sky begins to brighten, revealing the magnificent Mawenzi Peak and the landscape below.

Continue along the crater rim towards Uhuru Peak, at 5,895 metres.

You have reached the highest point in Africa.

Pause to take in the extraordinary view. Feel the cold air against your face. Celebrate with your fellow climbers and take a moment to appreciate every step that brought you here. It is a hard-earned achievement, one that belongs to the entire journey, not just the final few metres.

After your summit celebration, begin the long descent to Horombo Hut. The descent is demanding in its own way, so follow your guide’s instructions and conserve your energy. By evening, a meal and a well-earned rest will feel especially welcome.

  • Accommodation: Horombo Hut
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking water
  • Terrain: Volcanic scree, rocky crater rim and high-altitude summit

Summit timing and success depend on weather, altitude response and individual fitness. Your guides may adjust or stop the ascent when safety requires it.

Day 6 - Summit day: Standing on the roof of Africa

Day 7 - The final descent

Horombo Hut (3,720 m) to Marangu Gate (1,879 m), then to Moshi or Arusha

Distance: approximately 20 km · Descent time: 5–7 hours · Elevation loss: 1,841 m

Wake up to your final morning on the mountain. After breakfast, begin the descent through the moorland and back into the lush rainforest.

The familiar sounds of birds return, the air becomes richer, and the trail that once marked the beginning of your adventure now leads you towards its conclusion.

At Marangu Gate, complete the exit formalities and collect your summit certificate if you have qualified for one. Take a moment to thank the mountain crew whose work and support helped make the journey possible.

Then travel back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. A proper shower, a comfortable bed and the simple pleasure of resting without a trail to cover may never have felt so good.

More than the photographs and the certificate, you carry the memories of a journey that asked you to be patient, resilient and open to the unexpected.

  • Accommodation: Hotel in Moshi or Arusha
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking water
  • Habitat: Moorland and montane forest

Day 8 - Take the journey forward

Departure day or extend your adventure with a safari

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your scheduled transfer to the airport.

Not ready for the adventure to end? Extend your stay in Tanzania with a wildlife safari in Tarangire National Park or the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, or explore cultural experiences around Arusha.

From mountain trails to the extraordinary wildlife and landscapes of Tanzania, there is more to discover if you choose to stay longer.

As you head home, take a moment to reflect on what you have experienced, the landscapes, the friendships, the challenges and the moments that will stay with you long after the journey ends.

  • Accommodation: None included for the departure day
  • Meals: Breakfast and drinking water

Who is this journey for?

This experience is for people who want more than a holiday.

  • Entrepreneurs and business owners looking to step away from the daily demands of building and running a business.
  • Business leaders and professionals seeking a fresh perspective on challenges, decisions and personal leadership.
  • People at a crossroads considering a career change, a new direction or a different chapter in life.
  • Adventure seekers ready to test themselves in one of the world’s most remarkable mountain environments.
  • First-time high-altitude trekkers and experienced hikers who are prepared to train, follow guidance and approach the mountain responsibly.

You do not need to arrive with all the answers. You need to arrive willing to prepare, participate and take the journey one step at a time.

High-altitude trekking is physically demanding and is not suitable for everyone. Appropriate preparation, medical advice where needed, and a willingness to follow your guides’ safety decisions are essential.

The session on mind mentoring was awesome. Now all those public programs and how they brainwash you into buying things you never need is all very clear. It also brought a lot of clarity into the focus part of things that we take for granted. Looking forward to the next session on strengthening our firewall.

Attended an amazing session on the Power of Mind Mentoring. It was a fantastic investment. With just a few simple activities he was opened my eyes to how I unconsciously was giving others the power to control my mind; in the process, making me realize how important it is to take control of my mind in order to achieve what I want. It made me cognizant to the fact of how easily people are able to brainwash others and get trapped into the illusion of reality. He has this super ability to simplify complex things, thus helping people to easily implement the learning and see results. I look forward to learning more from him and grow in the process. I wish you lots of success in creating results for people the way you have done for me.

They are inspirational mentors! Their approach is unique and based on life experiences and wisdom. We have all been tested by decisions and life situations in the past and having them as my seasoned mentors to share and advice to accelerate my learning and growth has been awesome. The focus is raising the game and the sessions are customized to achieve the desired outcomes. Their dedication to the success of their mentees is commendable and they know just when to challenge my thinking. The results in 6 weeks across the key areas of my life have been tangible and I have also experienced the benefits of Mind Mentoring. In a nutshell, I have achieved more peace of mind (amidst all the Covid-19 chaos), clarity and focus through powerful practices. Very grateful for mentorship and dedication. Thank you!

I was introduced to my mentor at one of the moments in my life when I was making my life changing choice in both professional and private life. His intervention was so timely and helpful for every step I took. Mind Mentoring is becoming the style of my every decision process. Focus and declutter is no longer a secret to my brain. He builds personalised lessons and is available even out of class hours when I was going through crisis moments. Peace of mind has settled in even in this Covid crisis. Thanks to my mentor and to his carefully chosen mentoring lessons that helped me rise and step up. I have a life changing mentor I could count on.

As a corporate leader and a life coach I am always looking to learn new methods and process to build better teams and also enhance the coaching experience for my coachees, in this pursuit I was recommended to try out Mind Mentoring, we started off with discovery call to understand Mind mentoring process and I was sold on the idea to go through the 12-week programme to re-engineer my mind and my thinking process. So far I have only gone through half of the programme and reflecting back on the last 4 weeks I have made huge breakthroughs and shifts in perspectives. My biggest achievement has been shedding 4 kgs in a span of 20 days as opposed to the target of 1.5 kg, clearly overachieved and I was able to make this dynamic shift with a simple switch in my mind on how I approach fitness and with support from my mentor getting clarity on my “why” and the consequences of not achieving my target. My mentor is extremely diligent, patient and employees brilliant skills and tools to shift perception and thinking process leading to huge transformation, with this experience I am able to understand the power of the mind and how if used right we can create the reality we dream of. I would highly recommend Krish to anyone who is feeling stuck or unable to progress on goals or getting the necessary outcome aligned to their vision or dream… Thank you for making such a huge impact in my life, I am sure with the knowledge I have now I feel confident to forge ahead with my goals and dreams with the conviction of realising the same. Keep inspiring and creating a profound impact on many more souls! More power to you.

I started my journey into stocks and options trading & investing in 2020 right in the middle of the pandemic. Within the first few months, I knew that if I was not able to manage my emotions and think logically, this journey of mine was going to catastrophic. Fortunately, it was right at the time that I took up mind-mentoring. I have always had a learning mindset and have attended several courses over the last 10-15 years but none that specifically helped me train my mind. The practical tools and skills provided by my mentor had an immediate impact in just under a week. I went from making 10-20% returns to crossing 100-150% returns on most of my trades. Through the training, I was able to manage my emotions under the intense portfolio volatility to make clear and concise decisions in short periods of time. If the Mind is the energy to trigger the right parts of the brain or its network of neurons to function, keeping the Mind in check, becomes imperative for any one of us to attain desired levels of effectiveness. I would recommend Mind-Mentoring to everyone so that you too can achieve success in all facets of your life!
